You require two disks to install MacSNMP: the Network Software Installer (NSI) disk and the AppleTalk Connection disk. You must first run the Installer that's included on the NSI disk, and then run the Installer that's included on the AppleTalk Connection disk.
The Network Software Installer (NSI) disk contains the following files:
Installer
TeachText
Network Software Script
ReadMe
AppleTalk Files folder
NSI International Files folder
The AppleTalk Connection (v1.0.2) disk contains the following files:
AppleTalk Connection Read Me (this file)
AppleTalk Connection Script
Installer
MacSNMP Client
SNMP Preferences
TeachText
User Instructions
Shared Library Manager Files folder
Library Manager Resources
Shared Library Manager
SNMP Files folder
SNMP AppleTalk Agent
SNMP AppleTalk Transport
SNMP Macintosh Agent
SNMP Manager
800K disks
----------
To make 800K disk versions of the AppleTalk Connection software (for users to install on Macintosh computers with only 800K drives), follow the instructions below.
Caution: This solution works only in the United States. International customers should contact their local Apple sales offices for 800K disks if necessary.
1. Format two 800K disks.
2. Give them EXACTLY the same names as the two 1.44 MB disks.
3. For the AppleTalk Connection disk, copy all the files and folders to the 800K disk EXCEPT the MacSNMP Client application. You can copy this application to another disk for separate installation.
4. For the Network Software Installer disk, copy all the files and folders to the 800K disk EXCEPT the NSI International Files folder.
MacSNMP Release Notes (v 1.0.2)
===============================
*** READ THIS ****
In order to preserve the setting of communities, password, trap table, etc…, the SNMP Preferences file has to be dragged outside the Extensions Folder before installing a new version of MacSNMP, and dragged back inside that folder upon completion of the installation.
BUG FIXES
---------
• MacSNMP Admin and MacSNMP Client:
Closing the community window sometimes crashed the MacSNMP Admin and MacSNMP Client.
• SNMP Macintosh Agent:
GetNext on the last element of one of the SystemFileTable's columns did not return the first element of the ApplTable.
SNMP Macintosh Agent now returns an INTEGER instead of a COUNTER for SystemFileTable.FileEntry.fileSize.
SNMP Macintosh Agent now returns an INTEGER instead of a COUNTER for ApplTable.ApplEntry.applSize.
• Macintosh System MIB:
SystemFileTable.FileEntry.fileSize is now defined as INTEGER.
ApplTable.ApplEntry.applSize is now defined as INTEGER.
TrapTable.trapProtocol is now defined as Macintosh Display String.
